Disease or injury that occurred in the musculoskeletal system is manifested as the pain, deformity and functional disturbance. Unless treated, these symptoms remain as a permanent disability. This leads to the possibility that the quality of life is decreased and patients with disability are in need of others’ assistance for life. To prevent or minimize the disability, an accurate diagnosis of orthopedic disease leading to the appropriate treatment is essential. We research, evaluate and make treatments to the patients of any medical problems on bones, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments including vascular lesions or spinal cord, peripheral nerve lesions such as malformation, anomaly, infection, tumor, metabolic disorder or etc. Furthermore, we study deep into the pathology or pathogenesis of any kind of fractures, dislocations, sprain or strains, contusions and provide most efficient care for those lesions. We are very intimate to the Department of Physical medicine & Rehabilitation due to the ultimate goal of our department which is to restore functional problems of daily activities and to bring the patients back to their normal lives. We have nine professors and three residents for each year of residency currently, who perform the clinical practice, research and education. In the areas of clinical practice, the department of orthopedics has the following speciality areas: knee joint surgery, spine surgery, fracture-and-trauma surgery, hand surgery, foot-and-ankle surgery, shoulder joint surgery, and artificial joint surgery |
