Department of ophthalmology deals with diseases occurring in orbital adnexa such as eyeball, eyelid or orbital bone. In addition to the anatomy and physiology of these structures, the pathogenesis is examined to make a diagnosis and treatment at department of ophthalmology. Besides, it is clinically responsible for the treatment of patients with ophthalmologic diseases. The eyes account for small part of the body, but their functions are truly tremendous and their structure is ultimately refined. Ophthalmology dealing with eyes has been specialized since earlier times. Then, ophthalmology can be subdivided into its speciality areas: cornea, retina, glaucoma, strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology and ophthalmoloplasty. At the department of ophthalmology of Chung-Ang University Hospital, four professors, residents at each level of training, three ophthalmologic nurses and two optometrists help patients to receive the diagnosis and treatment which are customizable to each speciality area. Besides, with the introduction of latest testing equipments and therapeutic instruments, the department of ophthalmology of Chung-Ang University Hospital helps patients to receive the accurate diagnosis and the top-quality treatment. The clinic for low visual acuity proudly presents the greatest number of patients and the highest level of treatment in Korea. The retina clinic not only provides the latest treatment and surgery for a wide variety of retinal diseases but also performs the laser therapy and surgery for as well as retinopathy of prematurity. |
